i was thinking of going into the city tonight to hang around, but dang carl for finding "final destination 5" on HBO -- we're already sucked in & the kid's premonition hasn't even ended. oh wait, now it has.
This is a bunch of rambling nothingness that's more for my own amusement than anything else. If you've stumbled upon this blog by accident, I apologize now.

i'd be his girl monday through sunday
sure, he's no longer w/ the living & s'posedly he even didn't swing my way, but i've got such a crush on cary grant, especially in "his girl friday," which you can watch in its entirety below (rosalind russell's not too shabby in it either, i may add):
satur-matinee-day
gonna go to the 3pm showing of "prometheus" at the midway w/ carl. should be a fun one...
[update, 5:40'ish PM, when i said "should be a fun one..." i was hoping for at least a little goodness. this was a WTF kind of movie that just didn't work for me.]

cejwin on my mind
i posted these photos onto facebook weeks back, but i totally took my time getting it on here to share w/ bonni. we weren't allowed onto the aviv/aviva or charuvah campuses, etc., but we could use the NSSH, enter the canteen & walk 'round a bit. you'll see.
so w/out further ado, may i present the snapshots i took during the recent cejwin reunion this past june 9th. ooh, wait a sec, please note, as w/ facebook, i am keeping w/ the "what happens in port jervis stays in port jervis" pact & not posting actual people. okay, now on to the pictures:

howie bayowitz would hold our CIT meetings here when it was nice out. |
the blue (then white w/ green trim) cabin to the left is my old bunk (twice over) in the '80s. gosh, i miss hanging out behind that bunk. the beige building is the old office. |

my reward for being productive today
gonna watch "district 13: ultimatum" on netflix w/ the ol' hubby. i seem to have cleaned my side of the room enough to warrant a "fun" break. & i'll have you know i didn't hide a thing. not under the bed. not in my nightstand. nada nowhere. the junk i went through today is either in a neat pile waiting for me to deal w/ tomorrow or in the trash. i mean, sure, i took an hour in between to have sushi w/ my mom at chikurin on queens blvd. around 3, but other than that, it was pure organizing at its finest.
now onto the movie... (i simply LOVE flicks that are described as "action-packed," "violent" & "exciting," even in french.)

color me "antisocial"
it feels like i'm getting in one of those moods where i want to disconnect from all things that connect.
i'll try to shake it, but i'm thinking it's time to take a break & take care of the apartment right now. not that i'd rather do dishes or laundry or what-not, but i've got a mound of clothing, books & papers that's been creeping up my bedroom wall like out-of-control ivy, so well, you know.
in the meantime, take a listen to some groovy rolling stones' songs:

it ain't cejwin, but it'll do
just dropped the putch off at sleepaway camp for her very first summer. i could ramble on about how i miss her, all my fears & hopes for her, & so on & so forth, but instead i shall simply post these four pictures from drop-off -- which ran very smoothly, so kudos to you, camp laurelwood:
white bunks w/ green trim, just like cejwin -- yay, i continue to live nostalgically & vicariously though my daughter's sleepaway camp experience. |
curious to see how this'll look in a four weeks on visiting day. |
me, bonni, carl & the girls. (wolf & milton were already on the campuses.) |
this is going to be a good summer... |

yesterday's news
14 years & one day ago, i walked down the aisle to this song...
happy (belated) anniversary, carl.
happy (belated) anniversary, carl.
procrastination at its finest
"nothing like waiting till the last minute to do something"... that's my unintentional motto. see, there are less than 48 hours before we leave to drop claire off at sleepaway camp & true to my nature, i have yet to begin labeling & packing her clothes & gear. now, typically, i'd waste another day, but i've got carl on my ass supporting me to break my procrastinating ways, so, i'm gonna put some albums on & get crackin', starting w/ "rubber soul" by the beatles:

bikram in times square
my friend stacey & i went to times square this morning to do bikram yoga w/ 14,000 people at 12:30pm on the hottest day *yet* of the year w/ all the best intentions.
we got to 'solstice in times square' early enough to get our free yoga mat (though both brought our own, just in case), found excellent spots in the shade next to each other in the front & could see ourselves on the jumbotron shaking our pom-poms (literally) for our amusement. then as noon approached, the sun moved over us & it all went downhill from there. see, it turns out that bikram yoga is the hot yoga, NOT the beginner's yoga that we thought it would be, so, about twenty-five minutes into it -- after the instructor announced that the "warm-up" was over -- we tapped out.
to see what we endured for that almost-half-hour & to view the remaining 65 minutes after we left, check out the times square alliance's webcam -- they posted the videos from today & i think they'll be up for a week. (& yes, i would consider doing this again next year.)

oops, you made a mistake...
aaahhh, childhood memories. they used to air "the most important person" clips in between cartoons on TV (i'm pretty sure it was WPIX, channel 11 in NYC) when we were kids & this was one of my favorites...
then there was the yellow, globby guy on ABC who taught us to make "sunshine on a stick" -- though it never worked for me. here's the afterschool special they made w/ him (though i was a much bigger fan of the "snickety-snack" short instead -- just couldn't find it)...

post-concert giddy'ness
went to see matthew sweet last night at the city winery w/ carl, janine, her husband jeff, my nephew nick & his girlfriend kaitlyn. i don't know how he's gonna top himself after that amazing concert. not only did he do "girlfriend" in its entirety, but he also played the below posted tunes from his some of his other albums ("100% fun," "altered beast," "modern art") for an encore, as well. (thanks again to the original uploaders of those videos.)
our seats were incredible -- we were thisclose to the stage. & we lucked out by not having anyone around us, so we got to spread out -- if you're familar w/ the city winery, you can appreciate that.
take that, add in dinner at balthazar (hello, three towers of seafood) beforehand & despite the rain, i'd say it was an excellent night, indeed.
sick of myself

the entertainment world takes another hit
richard dawson passed away. as i wrote on twitter & facebook, i used to watch him on "hogan's heroes" reruns & "family feud," but i totally forgot about his stints on "match game." (shame on me & thank you, shack for setting me straight.)
