Just the first set of photos of my dad to share

I can't scan right now, so I'm relying on photos my dad & I had on Facebook to share w/ Bonni.  I'll add more here n' there.

I miss him.

my favorite time of year

tonight was PS 196Q's annual halloween party.  it was bittersweet knowing this was our last one since claire's in 5th grade & moving on to middle school next year.

claire was a greek goddess this year.  no one imparticular.  could be athena.  could be... well, one of the others whose name slips my mind at this time.

i had a good time -- despite manning the school spirit sales table in the lobby & missing out on the festivities.  i heard it was fun downstairs in the cafeteria, even w/ the first hour of it being hot-as-heck w/out A/C.  i just love that our families didn't let that stop them from partying away.

& no, i'm not toxic waste... i'm a cupcake.

happy (almost) halloween.

i would be a good mother if...

... i took a photo of claire today on first day of fifth grade & posted it here on my blog or on facebook, but dang me b/c i did not get a shot of the putch on her last first day at PS 196Q.

then again, i was at school all day since 7:30am this morning to sell t-shirts & serve refreshments to the parents at drop-off & kindergarten pick-up.  (i did take one break for lunch on austin street & to seek the elusive "forest hills rooster" w/ my friend stacey, & we did meet a bunch of really neat parents at school, which was quite nice.  we're going back tomorrow AM to hawk more school spirit gear (ie: fancy-talk for "t-shirts") & w/ this PA president gig i've got going this school year on top of everything else i was doing before... heck, i think i actually am a darn good mother, regardless if i took that picture or not.

[update, just a bit later: i did a search for the "forest hills rooster" & it turns out that it may actually be a chicken, as reported by CBS local news.]

[update, just a tad bit later than the "rooster vs. chicken" update: i noticed a reporter at school this morning, so i did a search & found this DNAinfo article by nigel chiwaya about the first day of school, featuring PS 196Q.  cool beans & neat-o, eh?]

us & them

[open letter to bonni: you could've seen these photos from yesterday last night if you were on facebook.  alas, you're not, so here they are for your viewing pleasure.  it's kinda neat-o seeing us & them together like this.  i LOVE that they're both a year apart like we were.  & i hope they stay super-close.  (though w/ family, there's bound to be some ups n' downs.)  okie-doke, i could go on & on, but i'll stop now.  here are the pics.  i LOVE you.  & let's get a set of these w/ maddi & janine in 'em, too.]

back to the black tie beach

more photos from yesterday's black tie beach event (the first batch is here).  thank you, yiching lin, for taking & posting these on flickr, except for the last one, which carl took on his phone. :)

as for the mission itself... it was a really cool experience & i'm glad that claire & i participated w/ our friends.  everyone was in such a great mood & having a more-than-good time frolicking (sp?) at the beach & in the ocean while wearing our fancy duds (note: my purple frilly dress was bought at the salvation army for $7.50... not too bad a bargain.)

i'm gonna shut down & call it a day, but in the meantime, i highly recommend you visit charlie todd's improv everywhere site & check out this & his other missions.

& to the young gentleman w/ the blue bucket who was dousing people from behind, including me & claire... i was the one who dunked you in the ocean & i'll be watching out for you in 2013, buddy-boy.

it ain't cejwin, but it'll do

just dropped the putch off at sleepaway camp for her very first summer.  i could ramble on about how i miss her, all my fears & hopes for her, & so on & so forth, but instead i shall simply post these four pictures from drop-off -- which ran very smoothly, so kudos to you, camp laurelwood:

white bunks w/ green trim, just like cejwin -- yay, i continue to live nostalgically & vicariously though my daughter's sleepaway camp experience.

curious to see how this'll look in a four weeks on visiting day.

me, bonni, carl & the girls.  (wolf & milton were already on the campuses.)

this is going to be a good summer...

i guess w/ the putch's 9th birthday coming up...

i'm feeling sorta nostalgic for the early years. here's a photo of claire at 2-months-old. funny, i thought i'd never have a kid that would wear pink... and then came claire.

an early photo of the putch

one-year-old claire at playrobics, 2003. i should never have been allowed to cut her bangs, but fortunately she's so gosh-dang cute she was able to get away w/ them.

[update: to see that the putch is definitely my kid, open the following page in a new window to see a picture of me at age 2: http://itskitti.blogspot.com/2010/12/me-and-bonni.html]

the putch

my 8-year-old, claire fisher borgatti. i (heart) her so very darn much.

wolf's bar mitzvah, part II

first photo, wolf claude hopkins -- the bar mitzvah boy, er, man. second one, me and my sisters, janine and bonni.
gosh dang, i LOVE them so.

more make-up-inspired memories

not sure how old claire was in these photos... 4, maybe (making me about 37.... ah, to even be that again). any old ways, can't recall how this all started, but gosh dang, i do LOVE the putch.

bride's maid dress from hell...

was thinking back to other times that bonni had me get done-up, despite my intense dislike of dresses and make-up. this is from bonni's wedding in july 1993.

and speaking of dresses, get a load of what bonni chose for the bride's maids. i cannot be blamed for that fashion disaster. it's all her.

best thing of this photo... it's one of the, if not, first picture taken of me and my sister janine.

wolf's bar mitzvah weekend

back from my nephew wolf's bar mitzvah in CT -- he beyond rocked and we were all truly impressed. had a great time w/ all of my relatives this weekend. it's an incredible thing when we're all together.

top photo is me and wolf. bottom photo is me and the putch. yep, i'm not only in a dress, but i've got an up'do and make-up going on, too. (the things we do for LOVE.)

And yes, perhaps it's time to clean the ol' scanner.

la-la-laaa...

it's been a few years or so since last i wrote on this facakta thing. maybe now that i've got a little more free time this summer, i'll post more frequently... maybe.
in the meantime, here's a picture of me and one of my oldest pals kissi (KITSI) and our girls. we grew-up a block away from each other in the city and lived a block away from each other here in forest hills, till she moved to arizona. the picture was taken over the weekend before kissi and becca went back home. sucks like an electrolux on high that we won't see them again till 2011.

it's been over a year since last i posted

yeah, yeah, yeah. i know, i'm a big ol' procrastinatin' fool, but color me "proactive" (at least for the moment) 'cause i'm gonna post a picture now for my sister janine. it's me and my other sister bonni, circa 1973.
