the putch is at yet another sleepover at her friend's apartment tonight.  trying to figure out what to do this evening.  no bands are playing around or anything like that.  not really in the mood to see "tower heist."  so, until i think of a good idea, i'm gonna watch this on cable...

i'm a survivor

the girls were asleep by 11:30/midnight & woke-up a few hours ago.

gotta figure out what to do w/ them today.  i do want to take advantage of this beauty day & i'm in the mood for fun.

[update: carl just schooled me on how bedtime really happened last night.  turns out, it was i that went to sleep by 11:30/midnight, but the girls were down closer to 1am -- he caught them in the living room watching TV.]

15 thanksgivings ago...

i was on my own & had no plans, so my new 'friend carl invited me over to his family's house in the bronx for dinner.

turkey is out of the oven, rested & carved-up.  stuffing just finished cooking.  and the rest is already done.

so it turns out that i rock at making homemade nachos.  i'd post pictures of the yummy'ness, but we can't find our camera.  another time...

i've got my spotify "starred" playlist on shuffle and a mix of blue, red and white baby potatoes waiting for me to tackle next.  wedge salads after that.  then, it's break time.

i already shared a "charlie brown thanksgiving" in a previous post, so i'll just wish everyone a happy, healthy thanksgiving & leave it at that.

a wee smidge behind

the turkey just went into the oven.  that's about two hours later than expected.  so, let's see... if it's s'posed to cook for 4-1/2 hours, which means 5+... well, we'll be skipping the matinee & seeing an evening showing of the new "muppets" movie.

on to watching some of the parade on TV w/ the family & prepping the rest of the food while the bird cooks.  (and yes, carl, you were right... those crowds would've been torture if we went into the city to see the parade.)

finished making compound butter & cranberry sauce for tomorrow's holiday meal.  there goes waiting till the morning to get started.

carl is home from atlantic city.  peapod & fresh direct have made their deliveries.  and, claire is officially off for the rest of the week.

time to relax & unwind w/ the family before the cooking madness ensues tomorrow morning.  actually, i just took a batch of brownies out of the oven, but i would've made those regardless of the upcoming holiday.

in the grand scheme of things, this really isn't the hardest part

stuck at home waiting for carl, peapod & fresh direct to arrive.  can't really complain.  i've got my music, TV, computer & then some to keep me occupied.  and of course, there's always the apartment to take care of, too, but that's no fun...

all by myself

so, in an odd turn of events, claire is now sleeping over at her friend's apartment, which leaves me here at home all by my lonesome.

no offense to my family, but... nice.

claire had her friends over for dinner & a playdate after school today, which has now led into one of them sticking around for a sleepover.

am i meshuga?  perhaps.  i mean, i'm kinda hopeful that come 8:30pm, the girls'll be on their way to dreamland, but we'll see what happens.  so far though, i'm like the coolest mom in the world.

sunday, interrupted

w/ carl in atlantic city till wednesday, i'm holding-off on watching our sunday night shows till he returns home -- we'll catch-up w/ them together on-demand later in the week.

so, what's a gal to do on a sunday night?  well, the putch is asleep, etta james is on spotify & i'm about to treat myself to an episode or two of "high school of the dead" on netflix -- i'll prolly cap that off by falling asleep w/ the food network on TV.  pretty decent plans, if'n yooze ask me.

about last night

went to see foo fighters w/ my fellow cejwinite steve hudes & we had us a good ol' time, despite having two beers accidentally tossed all over my coat & seat by a group of kids behind us (and yes, i used the word "kids" to describe individuals in their mid-20's.  i'm that old.)  at least we were standing at the time so i didn't get doused -- that woulda stunk.

btw, special guest appearance by joan jett at the end of the evening made getting home at 1:25am not sting as bad as it should've.

throwing-up & having a fever of 102 is no way to go through life.  somebody... something... make me feel better, please.

at least i was able to take the putch & her friend gina to the movies earlier this afternoon -- saw "jack & jill" -- before this illness hit me hard.  so, i've got that going for me, which is nice.

just hope i shake this before the foo fighters concert on sunday night.
