i made a smidge of a bad call w/ netflix'ing "killer elite" last night.  it was especially disappointing after seeing the extremely fun n' cheesy "battle royale" (<- click to see full movie here) at the IFC center that afternoon w/ my friend karen & hulu'ing the season finale of "modern family" w/ carl later in the evening.  it's not like i set my expectations high (or even middle-of-the-road) for "killer elite"... let's just say, it was not-so-good & my bubble was deflated.



gonna find something on-demand now that doesn't suck like a hoover to watch w/ the family.  wish us luck & pray for mojo that we don't wind-up w/ an "america's got talent" marathon on this ever-so-stormy saturday night.  we would've seen "dark shadows" at the midway, but it's way too rainy out for my taste.  (i'll be w/ you soon, johnny depp...)


[update, a lil' after 10:30pm: watched an annoying episode of "dan vs." & some other mindless TV.  ahh, quality family time... you gotta love it.  claire's asleep now.  carl's watching sports & doing sports stuff on his computer.  & well, me... i'm listening to pete yorn's "pete yorn" album & futz'ing around the computer.  too late to find a movie to watch now.  or is it...?]

cancer sucks

haven't posted since last week -- it was the one about donna summer succumbing to cancer.  robin gibb passed away from it soon after & i just learned last night that another female cejwin'ite in the past year has lost her battle.

just some fucked-up shit.

no more summers for donna summer

i'm not posting this b/c i was a huge donna summer fan (though who can pass up the movie "TGIF" or the song embedded below).  i just can't say it enough, "cancer sucks."  donna summer was only 63 when she died.

so many people can be creative, but to create... i am so proud of my mom & the amazing amount (& quality) of work she's been doing.  i'd also post a link to the blog she kept during one of her trips to rwanda, but i can't seem to find it.  (i'll ask her about that one of these days.)

the putch & i are all set to see "yellow submarine" tomorrow afternoon in the city at 2pm.  i've seen it a gazillion times since i was a wee one, but never in a theater -- at least as far as i can remember... i could be wrong.  any old ways, claire's had the book & album since she was a baby & we've seen the movie together a whole slew of times on DVD (thank you again, bonni, for passing your copy on to us), so i'm really looking forward to this.
