keep on truckin'

this was my 4th or 5th grade school photo.
i'll find out for sure one of these days (ie: weeks, months, or years).
[update, 2/27, 8:45pm: i was in fourth grade, for sure, not fifth when this photo was taken.]

30 years this december (bonni, me & ma)

my mom just turned 23 a month before this picture was taken.  i was 3.  bonni, 2.

[update, 9:35pm: my cousin megan just informed me that i'm 10 years off.  this was taken FORTY years ago this december, not thirty.  oy.]

claire & kitti, 2002

as i'm s'posed to transcribe my notes from last month's PA meeting for review at tomorrow's, i just want to procrastinate a real short bit more to openly say to claire:

i LOVE you.
no matter what, i LOVE you.
you may think i'm being mean sometimes,
you may hate the things i say or do,
but, really, i don't care b/c i know
i LOVE you.

happy (belated) birthday, scuzzin

your actual birthday may have been six days ago, but that's no reason for me not to post this HAPPY BIRTHDAY message right along w/ this photo of us from 9 years ago this month.

i LOVE you, scuz'.

family day at hall of science

so, i tried to upload a photo to this facakta blog from a file folder and i think i've got it to work... (at least for now).  yesterday, we went to the hall of science w/ our friends, the andrews family.  below are some pictures from the day:

yep, they've got FOUR.  & scary but true, they're all good kids.

two femailers reunited (just missing three others & we've got a complete set.)

"sound city" is making me very excited

i can't wait for the release of "sound city."  i can't imagine it disappointing.

these notes from college are officially "vintage"

oy, i'm not sure i made it past the first class.  i'll see if i can find any other notes.  i took this class b/c i had kapsis before for his summer "hitchcock" class -- it was incredible & we got to watch movies w/ a guy who was a true historian and admirer of film, especially hitchcock.  if he still holds the class at queens college, definitely give it a whirl.  as for whatever these notes were taken for... i'd skip it.

this was actually written during my last semester, spring 1992, at queens college, before i re-enrolled back in 2008.  wow, i was a silly degenerate back then.

warning: cheesy title ahead... "wicked" good time

ahh, beautiful... i can add pictures again.  (for some reason the "picasa" way is working again.  i'll try uploading from a "file folder" next time.)

any old ways, here are a few photos of me, claire, carl & my dad backstage at "wicked" -- we went to celebrate claire's 10th birthday. many thanks to my dad, his friend kenny, & his friend john, for making her last day in the single-digits truly incredible.
the tour was amazing. it's a very cool feeling to walk around on stage & going behind-the-scenes was perfect in not giving away too much of what happens in the show, which i really dug, as well. (was that a run-on sentence? aw heck, who cares. on to the photos...)

for uncle jellybean on the 44th anniversary of his bar-mitzvah

i LOVE you, uncle eddie & really can't wait to see you next month for jessi's wedding -- so surreal & cool. i'll post in 5 days for your birthday. i'll take requests via email. you know the address.

(& as a side note to those not in-the-know: this also would've been my parents 44th wedding anniversary, but they divorced in the '80s.)

gosh darn, i was so close

well, that didn't last long.  i can't post pictures from picasa now either.  i dunno what the heck is wrong, but i am not enjoying this situation.

oh well, i guess i'll just look for random things to post from youtube & the lot, if i get super-bored tonight -- i've got the entire apartment/night to myself.

i got it to work (i think) -- (if so) more photos to (eventually) come

finally, i'm able to post pictures again on this little blog o' mine.  at least i think this will be viewable to y'all.  not really sure, so i figured why not use my old nickelodeon ID card as the "test" dummy.  if you see it, fine... i was darn cute.  & if not, no real loss & it's back to the drawing board for me.

(btw, the way i got around the "lost connection to server" error when trying to upload from my file folders... uploaded it to google+ first, then upload again from there.  it's not the greatest solution, but it'll work for now.)

times sure have-a-changed since the mid-'90s.

[update: 6:10pm, it worked.  here comes claire's 10th birthday celebration photos.]

it's mathathon time

it's that time of the year again for claire to raise money for st. jude children's research hospital through her school's mathathon fundraiser.  please consider donating/sponsoring claire.  it's an extremely important cause -- saving children's lives -- & isn't it better to give for this than a box of girl scout cookies?

you can click on the widget below to go directly to the "donate" page, or you can go to the following URL for more info:  http://www.mymathathon.org/borgatti

the event ends at the end of this month.

thank you for pitching-in.

-- kitti,
claire's proud mom.

when i procrastinate, i put in 110%

this thursday i was going to post photos from claire's birthday party & our backstage tour of "wicked" last week, but for whatever reason, i didn't.  any old ways, i signed-on now to share 'em in all their glory, but dang if i don't keep getting server errors.

oh, well... i'll try again another time.  i've got the end of "the walking dead" to watch, any old ways.

just b/c i didn't blog about it right away, doesn't mean i don't care

i've been in one of those "eh, i'll do it later" moods when it comes to posting on this blog.  i even missed posting about claire's 10th birthday this past monday & the weekend-long celebration leading-up to it.

i did post a special birthday message to claire on twitter & facebook, but i didn't post photos or comments about her laser tag party on saturday or going to see "wicked" -- complete w/ backstage tour -- on sunday.  at first i felt a little bit guilty, but since then... not-so-much.  in fact, i was going to take care of it now, but instead i'm going to shutdown my computer & go to sleep while i watch "the daily show."  see, i've got to help my mom move some sculptures around her studio in LIC after i drop claire off at school tomorrow morning & need all the rest i can get.

i'll get to it tomorrow.  & i'll say real quick before i go:

-- laser tag is incredibly fun, especially w/ 18 kids & 5 adults.
-- "wicked" was amazing in oh-so-many ways & the backstage tour before the show was pretty darn cool (thank you to my dad, his friend kenny & kenny's friend john for that).
-- i love my just-turned-double-digits kid -- no matter how many or how little social media outlets i use to let her know.

okie-doke, it's time jon stewart & bed for me.  i'm not even adding "labels" to this.

good night, all.

[update, 5/26: i added the labels.  took a few months, but it's done.]

baglady... puppet... special... BOOM

i was talking to my friend stacey today & asked if she remembered a short children's film from the '70s about an old baglady, a girl & a puppet.   i couldn't remember anything else, except a merry-go-round (still not 100% sure about that one) & that it was an ABC afterschool special (i was wrong, it aired on CBS).

any old ways, i told her i'd google it to let her know & howdy-do, there it is, "the shopping bag lady" -- it's even available for download at archive.org.  i've embedded it below for your easy-viewin', nostalgic pleasure.
